Writer-director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man is clawing its way onto Peacock later this month — Friday, April 18, to be exact.
The horror collaboration from Universal Pictures and Blumhouse stars Christopher Abbott (Poor Things) as Blake Lovell, a loving family man who begins to undergo a visceral and monstrous transformation after he’s attacked by a mysterious creature in the wilds of Oregon. The gruesome process was inspired by body horror classics like John Carpenter’s The Thing and David Cronenberg’s The Fly. Julia Garner (Ozark) and Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) round out the tight-knit cast as Blake’s wife and daughter, respectively.
“These classic monsters have endured for a reason,” Whannell, who co-wrote the script with Corbett Tuck, said in an official statement. “They are as iconic and as famous as Michael Jordan, Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Winston Churchill, all these faces throughout history. The Mummy, Dracula, The Invisible Man and The Wolf Man are on the Mount Rushmore of pop culture. Something about them is just too fascinating, creepy, and mysterious to go away.”
“What Leigh Whannell was able to accomplish with The Invisible Man was astonishing,” adds producer Jason Blum. “He took an intimate moment about a heroine struggling to get away from abuse and expanded her horror into a terrifying journey for the audience. When Universal asked us what Blumhouse’s take would be on Wolf Man, I knew that Leigh should be the captain. His unparalleled ability at extracting terror from relatable moments allows him to show horror that is not fantastical, but tactile and immediate.”
In addition to directing and co-writing, Whannell (known for his work on Saw, Insidious, and, like Blum mentions above, the 2020 reimagining of The Invisible Man) also served as executive producer with Beatriz Sequeira and Mel Turner.

Leigh Whannell’s fresh take on the lupine classic will make its exclusive streaming debut on Peacock Friday, April 18.
