UPDATE: Pair who chased, harassed fox on snowmobiles surrender: Pa. Game Commission
The Pennsylvania Game Commission is still looking for two individuals who ran over and chased a red fox while snowmobiling earlier this week. And the reward for finding the pair has grown.
The reward pool, organized by Bachleda Studios, has now reached $2,025 after starting at $250. On Facebook, Michael Bachleda of Bachleda Studios expressed his belief that someone knows more about what happened to the red fox.
“Reward is over $2,000 now,” Bachleda wrote. " Somebody knows something and deserves this reward for helping us find the criminals.”
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Jan. 20 in a field near the intersection of State Route 501 and Locust Street in Heidelberg Township. The Game Commission posted on Facebook that the two suspects chased the fox for more than 30 minutes while riding snowmobiles.
The video shows one of them running right over the fox as it tries to escape. The Game Commission said that the two are wanted for illegal harassment of wildlife and attempted unlawful taking of a red fox.
One of the individuals was operating a black snowmobile with yellow skis, dressed in black pants, a black and gray jacket, and a silver metallic helmet. The other person was riding a black-and-white snowmobile, wearing fluorescent orange pants, a black jacket, and a black helmet. The Game Commission does think the two live in the area.
Game Warden Zach Salsgiver told WGAL they are receiving tips and are working to sort through them all.
“Right now, we’re just running down all of those leads, collecting those people’s information, doing interviews to try and figure out who exactly it was and weed out the individuals who weren’t involved,” Salsgiver said.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Southeast Region at 1-833-PGC-HUNT or the Operation Game Thief Hotline at 1-888-PGC-8001. Tips can also be made online.
