Jon Jones offers to 'lead the pack' when breaking down viral 100 men vs 1 gorilla online debate – Bloody Elbow

The internet’s latest obsession has seen people debate whether 100 men could defeat a gorilla in combat and who better to stand at the front than the greatest MMA fighter of all time.
Jon Jones has been on the receiving end of plenty of criticism in recent months following the ongoing saga between him and Tom Aspinall.
The two UFC heavyweight titleholders could meet in what would likely be the biggest fight of the year but there hasn’t been much movement on this front as of late, aside from a teasing post from Jones.
Though they appear to be great rivals for one another, both Jones and Aspinall would be big assets in any scenario where a collection of humans did have to take on the largest living primate.
Other candidates for a 100-man dream team like Daniel Cormier, Eddie Hall and Georges St-Pierre have all weighed in with their takes but now it’s time for ‘Bones’ to have his say.
Jon Jones might not be the most popular fighter on the UFC roster right now amongst some fans but he’s still widely considered to be the best to ever do it.
‘Bones’ is a remarkable athlete who seemed incredibly naturally talented from the moment that he first stepped into a cage but his mind is another one of his best attributes.
Jones told TMZSports that he believes that this, over the sheer numbers, would be the difference in this hypothetical scenario.
“That’s a good pick, I’d love to be one of the hundred. I think it’s such a funny topic though, it’s like everyone’s so serious about fighting this damn gorilla. What did the gorilla do to us? What did he do?
“Yeah, it’s a funny debate. 100 men definitely beats up a gorilla. When you think about the intelligence of the human being, we’ve conquered the planet so the animals on it shouldn’t be a problem to us.”
The heavyweight champion was then asked whether he believes he could take the gorilla on all by himself and despite his ability to beat other men inside the Octagon, he wasn’t that confident.
“Definitely not solo, I would need a lot of help but I think, you get a bunch of guys from the NFL roster, bunch of the heavier guys from the UFC roster, and we have that thing down in no time.”
Though Jones would call on some backup from other powerful athletes, he wouldn’t want to let them get their hands dirty before he tags in towards the end of the battle.
Unsurprisingly, the man that holds the UFC record for being the youngest champion in the history of the promotion wants to be front-and-center for the conflict.
“Where am I coming in? No, let me lead the pack. Yeah, I’d like to be a part of the first wave if we did that.”
It’s become a regular occurrence that underneath any post that is connected to Jon Jones, many of the replies are about Tom Aspinall.
The heavyweight title unification is clearly the fight that the fans want to see and the Brit has continued to inspire these comments and reactions via his social media activity.
Aspinall’s latest post saw him attend a clay shooting club where he included a jab at Jones having accused the consensus greatest of all time of ducking him.

100 men vs 1 gorilla might be a fine distraction but the real heavyweight clash is between the two men who hold UFC gold in the same weight class.
