Friday is the last day to send bear hunt comments to the FWC – Gulf Coast News and Weather – Southwest Florida News

Friday, May 16, at 5 p.m. is the last moment for the public to comment on the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s black bear hunt proposal.
The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation is urging people to make their voices heard and to hopefully speak up against the bear hunt.
According to the foundation, a bear hunt could have wide-ranging impacts on black bear populations, which were already nearly wiped out from hunting in the late 1900s.
This new bear hunt would come after the one in 2015, when the hunt had to be closed early because the number of dead bears rose faster than expected.
