A popular jogging trail was recently closed in Canada after a black bear was filmed opening its arm to strike a terrified jogger.
Park rangers in British Columbia are now advising visitors to “be alert and take precautions” although the runner escaped safely this time.
Another runner nearby, Sam Abdullah, recorded the tense scene.
He was walking in the park when he saw the bear come out of the brambles.
“I started filming when the girl who was running ended up frozen in front of the bear,” he said.
The bear is seen approaching the runner, before launching a clawed paw towards her leg.
The girl then left and the bear decided not to persecute her. When she got close to the guys filming she gave a big smile of relief and continued running.
Male Canadian black bears weigh up to 280 kg and a few days ago a woman was killed by them in a park in Canada. /tch/
