Houndstooth hat, Alabama cap found under seat of Bear Bryant’s 1972 Cadillac up for auction – AL.com

Here’s your chance to own two pieces of University of Alabama football history.
Auction house Lelands has two hats personally owned by coaching legend Paul “Bear” Bryant up for bid. The first hat is a black and white houndstooth hat that the auction house described as “the most well broken-in” piece of Bryant memorabilia it has auctioned.
The hat has wear shown both outside and inside the band and a label indicating it was “The Original Paul “Bear” Bryant” hat. The label has loose threads and it is slightly detached. Starting bid for the hat was $2,500 on Nov. 14 and it’s already up to $5,360.
The second hat is equally iconic.
It is a Crimson Tide baseball hat personally owned and worn by Bryant. The hat – complete with sweat stains – has a band that reads “I ain’t nothing but a winner,” with Bryant’s name below. The top bid for the hat is currently $500.
Both hats share an interesting history.
The consignor of the hats purchased Bryant’s 1972 Cadillac and, while performing restoration, found the hats under a seat. The auction house has included a copy of the Cadillac’s owner’s manual, complete with Bryant’s signature.
